  • Rapid access to custom liquid and powder media helps scientists move from formulation design to process decisions faster, while supporting a clearer path to future GMP manufacturing
  • Flexible non-GMP batch sizes and target turnaround times of up to 10 working days support early screening, process confirmation and development activities
  • Integrated custom media and buffer capabilities help customers reduce development complexity and keep future scale-up requirements in focus

Lonza, the world's leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO), today announced its Rapid Media Prototyping Service (RaMP), giving biopharmaceutical companies faster access to custom liquid and powder media for screening, process confirmation and early development. With the possibility to send non-GMP powder batches from 1-10 kg and liquid batches from 1-100 L produced within 10 working days, the service helps scientists accelerate timelines, generate critical process data and prepare for GMP manufacturing.

RaMP addresses common early development challenges, including long lead times for custom prototype media, limited small-batch manufacturing options and the need to align early formulation work with future manufacturing requirements.

RaMP is part of Lonza's end-to-end custom media and buffer solutions offering, supporting customers from media development and screening through non-GMP prototyping and commercial GMP manufacturing. By linking early formulation work with long-term scalability, the service helps simplify development and support manufacturing readiness.

Omar Wahab, Vice President, Head of Bioprocessing, Lonza, commented: “Development teams are under pressure to generate data quickly, make informed process decisions and keep programs moving toward the clinic. RaMP gives customers the possibility of rapid access to custom media in the quantities they need, when they need it. By connecting early screening and process confirmation with future GMP requirements, we help reduce scale-up risk, simplify technology transfer and support a more efficient path to commercialization.”

Delivered through Lonza's global media development and manufacturing network, RaMP combines rapid turnaround, flexible batch sizes and specialized expertise to help customers advance development with greater confidence while preparing for scale-up and GMP manufacturing.
