Hardy Diagnostics, a 100% employee owned, FDA-licensed manufacturer headquartered in Santa Maria, CA, has been exponentially increasing production volume of products needed for testing during the COVID-19 global pandemic. Specifically, Hardy has increased production of Viral Transport Medium (VTM, Cat. No. R99), a product recommended by the CDC for collection and transportation of specimens from patients suspected of a COVID-19 infection. Hardy has increased production volumes from a few hundred tubes of VTM per week to now nearly 500,000 tubes per week. “The demand has placed incredible burden on our company, but one we are happy to support,” says Jay Hardy, Founder and President of Hardy Diagnostics. “It’s been nothing short of miraculous for us to be able to increase our production volumes so drastically. Every owner here at Hardy is proud to be supplying our American customers with these vital products.”

In addition to manufactured products like VTM, Hardy has opened up multiple supply chains for other difficult to obtain products. These include items such as surgical masks, hand sanitizers, and face shields. By working with international and local partners, Hardy Diagnostics has been receiving a steady supply of products and has been carefully allocating them to their customers. “With demand like this, we partner with our laboratory customers to ensure we understand their specific needs,” says Christopher Catani, Director of Sales and Marketing. “It’s incredibly challenging, because everyone is desperate. We’re doing our best to work closely with our customers to ensure we’re supporting them in every way possible.”
