Showcase on lab automation instruments and consumables on display at SLAS2024 International Conference and Exhibition

February 5, 2024

Azenta Life Sciences has announced that it will display a range of productivity-enhancing consumables, instruments, and automated sample storage products at SLAS 2024 in Boston, USA from February 5 - 7.

Visitors to booth 909 will see the new Ziath RITrack and LUX readers, Automated Individual Access Roll Heat Sealer, the Cap2™ 0.2ml Dual-Cap Sample Collection PCR Tube, and the FluidX Maximum Recovery 1.6ml cryo vial.

In addition to live demonstrations of these innovative products, Azenta will be hosting expert speaker presentations on sample automation best practices and pathways toward sustainability.

Using the revolutionary Ziath RITrack 2D Tube Rack Reader reading SBS racks is now as simple as opening the freezer and withdrawing a rack, then offering it up to your smart phone to see all the available tubes in that rack. This exciting technological advance eliminates the need to bring cold racks back to the lab for reading. Using the Pick List function of the App, tubes from several different racks can be checked off right in front of the freezer, again saving valuable technician time.

Another product we’re showcasing is the Ziath LUX, the first truly portable camera-based rack reader that can be used in the lab as well as in front of your freezers or store. LUX boasts an average 8-hour battery life in everyday usage, will recharge fully overnight, and yet is small and light enough to carry comfortably. The latest DP5 software runs on a built-in computer and state-of-the-art electronics with artificial intelligence used to read your racks, process and store the data, and find any unoccupied wells in the rack. It all folds away neatly for transport and will eliminate the tedious process of retrieving racks back to the lab only to find that you need a different one. LUX automatically re-connects to your LAN when an Ethernet link is available or once it is within WiFi range and can send data directly to a server location. Alternatively, it can store results using internal storage or on a plug-in USB storage device.

Molecular diagnostic kit manufacturers may often find themselves in need of custom seals for their plates or PCR tubes, to optimize this workflow, the Automated Individual Access Roll Heat Sealer is capable of sealing individual wells or tubes as well as custom seals, enabling researchers to leverage the benefits of the Azenta Individual Access plate and seal range whilst maintaining the gold standard heat sealing. There is no requirement for compressed air for flexible use within the lab and the sealer offers high compatibility with a wide range of plates and seals.

The Cap2™ is a new 0.2ml PCR microcentrifuge tube featuring a patent-pending, novel dual-cap design with both a hinged lid and screw cap to preserve the integrity of samples used in genetic testing workflows. Acting as both a collection and processing tube, sample transfer can be minimized making for greater efficiency and less wastage.

Large dead volumes in storage tubes are particularly concerning for users handling precious samples, such as stem cells, enzymes, antibody solutions, and difficult-to-make compounds. The new tri-coded 1.6ml Maximum Recovery cryo vial is ideally suited for automated workflows using liquid handling where more sample can be retrieved due to its uniquely shaped, tapered bottom. The 1.6ml Maximum Recovery tube allows users to not only maximize the recovery of precious samples but also to save on reagent purchasing costs with a mind towards sustainable practices along the entire supply chain.
